12 Days of Christmas

On the first day of Christmas šŸŽ„

I think a flower might be nice, like this #daisy 🌼 It makes friends with anyone’s senses, including the #pollinators, like #bees & #butterflies šŸ¦‹ šŸ

We need #flowers to survive whatever #life brings to the table šŸ’

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the second day of Christmas šŸŽ„

Maybe some #birds, like these #magpies warbling a fine #madrigal 🐦 These birds sing to others in their flock at dawn & dusk 🐤

Everyone needs a bit of mischief in their lives & magpies are a delight at night 🌓

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the third day of Christmas šŸŽ„

I’d like to spot more #koalas in their wild leafy habitat 🌿

Conservation of eucalyptus forests will help recover this wonderful native Australian animal 🐨

Everyone wants to cuddle a koala because they are so cute 🌿

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the fourth day of Christmas šŸŽ„

I hope more #mangrove forests are conserved & planted worldwide šŸŒ³šŸ’¦

These #saltyforests are nurseries & places of shelter & food for many animals šŸ¦€

Mangroves also reduce flooding from stormy seas & store carbon šŸŒæšŸ«§šŸŽ

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the fifth day of Christmas šŸŽ„

When you gaze up at the #nightsky there are not as many #stars because of city lights ✨

Nocturnal animals need #starlight to live by šŸ¦”

Maybe find a star somewhere & make a wish for more #darksky parks 🌲

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the sixth day of Christmas šŸŽ„

I plan to go to the #beach more often & take advantage of the ā€˜acoustic camouflage’ the ocean has to offer 🌊

The #soundscape of the #ocean helps relax the mind and it is also analysed by scientists to learn more about the sea & its many creatures 🐬

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the seventh day of Christmas šŸŽ„

I prefer shady company during sunny days šŸŒž

#Trees not only reduce temperature, produce oxygen, store carbon & prevent soil erosion, they’re also prime real estate for wildlife species 🌓

Where would Christmas be without a tree?🌲

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the eighth day of Christmas šŸŽ„

It would be wonderful if there were more spaces to escape the noise of technology šŸš‡

Sometimes it’s good just to relax & listen to #nature 🌿

One of my favourite wildlife sounds are made by #whales & #birds šŸ‹ 🐧

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the ninth day of Christmas šŸŽ„

#Plastic is intrinsic to human society & plastic waste can be found everywhere, from the ocean to our blood stream šŸ§ƒšŸ’¦

I hope a recycling method is found to address the negative impacts of plastic waste worldwide šŸŒ

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the tenth day of Christmas šŸŽ„

#Wildlife know nothing of international borders & migrate around the planet every year by air, land & sea 🐦

Countries should agree to bipartisan laws that target & support their #conservation 🐳

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the eleventh day of Christmas šŸŽ„

#Ecosystems are finely tuned by the interactions of plants & animals 🐠🪸🦈

Predators are key to keeping wild communities balanced & healthy šŸŠšŸ…

I hope more predators are returned to their native habitats šŸ»šŸ†

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ

On the twelth day of Christmas šŸŽ„

Changing what you do can make a real difference to someone or some thing šŸ™‚

Hope the difference you make is good šŸ’™

šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ½šŸ¦Œ
