Most people have access to a camera via their mobile, a go-pro, tablet, i-Pad or DSLR + video cameras with the built in advantage of uploading the goods onto your favourite social media channel; send up to the cloud; or external storage via lab top, USB, drive or disc.

Flickr is a great option because you can set the app settings to upload images captured on your mobile phone to your Flickr account. You can select whether the videos and images remain private and at a later time, select the ones to upload to Facebook or Instagram for everyone to see.

There are some pretty good storage choices out there if you are looking around, but the best option is to think about what you have already and then build on it from there. You don’t need the most expensive item to store media.

Affordable deals are available for storage devices at retail outlets and online. I usually compare prices and target a product with enough storage to hold images and videos – usually terrabytes not gigabytes.

Gigabytes are great for documents – MS and PDF – but in the long term, 1 terrabyte = 1000 gigbytes = 1000 000 megabytes. Terrabyte storage is getting cheaper, so it is a better long-term option for storing photos and videos.
