There is a specific kind of magic that happens where two worlds collide.

If you’ve ever stood in a mangrove forest at low tide, you know exactly what I mean. It’s a place that is neither fully land nor fully sea. It is a salty, tangled, breathing thicket that survives where others can't. In ecology, we call the surge of life that happens in these overlap zones the "Edge Effect." In art and storytelling, we call this space "Liminal."

For a long time, I’ve been exploring the horizon through film and photography. But recently, my focus has shifted. I’ve realized that the most important stories aren't always found on the distant line where the sky meets the water. Often, they are right here, in the beautiful and misunderstood boundaries of our natural world.

​Introducing: The Liminal Edge

​

Moving forward, I am refining how I share these stories through the Salty Wave lens. To do justice to both the art and the evidence, I’m introducing two distinct ways of looking at this environment:

​

1. The Liminal Edge  (Film & Visual Storytelling)
This is where the camera leads. Through documentary film and animal-centered photography, I’ll be exploring the emotional and aesthetic heart of these ecosystems. It’s about the fade-in, the quiet moments where a mangrove forest becomes a nursery or the way a habitat might shift due to natural or anthropological factors.

2. The Edge Effect  (Research & Data Translation)
Our oceans and wildlife are facing complex challenges that require more than just a beautiful image. This side of my work focuses on research translation, taking deep environmental data and field reporting and turning it into something we can all understand and act upon.

​

Why Mangroves?

These salty forests are the ultimate masters of the Liminal Edge. They filter our water, protect our coasts, and house incredible biodiversity. Yet, mangrove forests are overlooked and undervalued.

​

My mission remains the same: Exploring wildlife, environmental and digital innovation research through storytelling, film, photography and field stories. But by focusing on the Liminal Edge, I’m leaning further into the how of my work.

​

Whether I’m in a tidal zone with a camera or translating an environment study for a new story I'm writing, I’m looking for the Edge Effect, that point where discovery happens.
