Media

Your story deserves to be told.

Whether you’re a conservation group, a wildlife non-profit or a business looking to grow, I love helping people tell their stories. I take big, complicated ideas and turn them into visual stories that are easy to follow and hard to look away from, using everything from video and sound to digital tools. I’m curious by nature, and I care about connecting industries with the communities they serve. So I’ll work with your voice and your style, and help what you do, to reach people, wherever they are in the world.

What I do

Documentaries and short films, photography, storyboards and scripts, editing and motion graphics, social video, and Story Sessions to talk through your project.

My approach
At Salty Wave, I create stories that engage and excite your audience.

  • People first: I start with empathy, so the images and media reflect your values.

  • Led by your vision: Your purpose guides every creative choice.

  • Made together: We work side by side, so every frame means something.

Here's how we work together

Discovery: Finding Your Story
We start with a chat about what you want to achieve and which story best shows who you are. Then I do the research to make sure it fits your style guide and your digital tone.

Concept & Storytelling
I put together storyboards and scripts so you can see the idea before we film a thing. It’s the blueprint for your project, ready to share with an audience anywhere in the world.

Easy-Going Production
I plan the filming and photography around your schedule, so it slots in without a fuss. Whether we’re at your workplace, a research facility or a creative space, I look after the whole production, using high-end videography.

Postproduction & Delivery
This is where it all comes together. I edit, add motion graphics and fine tune everything for the biggest impact. You get high-resolution media, interactive story assets or fresh digital content, all ready for your website, social media or education channels.

Case Study 1

The story
In 2018, I became Managing Editor and Moderator of the npj Science of Learning Community, an online space from Springer Nature Communities. It shared blogs and insights from journal authors, editors, experts and the wider research community, alongside the Science of Learning journal.

The challenge
To get more everyday readers, scientists and stakeholders interested in mind, brain and education research to visit the site.

What I did

  • Made it easy for authors to share their research however it suited them: blog, podcast, video or interview, in their home languages.

  • Built and strengthened relationships with stakeholders and teams around the world.

  • Recruited specialist authors for regular contributions and set up reciprocal publishing arrangements.

  • Worked with well-known experts in mind, brain and education research.

The result
The Community grew in popularity by sharing diverse research stories in accessible formats, and it drew a wider international audience, especially from Asia, Africa and Europe. Its content is still influential, and researchers often reference it in their reports and blogs.

Case Study 2

The story
I took on a three-month, part-time contract as Senior Digital Content / Video Producer at the University of Queensland. The job was to deliver a series of instructional and promotional videos on a tight deadline.

The challenge
To raise awareness of a UQ program and encourage more of the science community to take part.

What I did

  • Put together a Plan of Action for each phase: preproduction (script writing), production (filming) and postproduction (editing).

  • Researched the program, the university’s branding and its tone of voice, then drafted scripts and scheduled filming with the researchers.

  • Shared video previews at weekly meetings, so the team could give feedback and I could make timely re-edits.

  • Used every resource available to sort out urgent details, like filming on different days and at different campus locations.

The result
The video series was finished on schedule. The Research Management team loved it, and it was presented to the scientific community at a Faculty of Science meeting. The videos are now on the faculty’s intranet, where they continue to inform and guide researchers.
