Free Air

Airborne off Cape Pallarenda — the bay, the hills, and nothing holding you down. I was at Cape Pallarenda when this rider caught a gust and went completely skyward — fully inverted, kite lines taut, board to the sky. Behind them, the layered ridgelines of Townsville's hinterland rise in layers of deep green and blue haze, and the bay stretches out brown-green in the chop below.  It's one of those images that has so much going on — the geometry of the lines, the spray coming off the water, those forested hills holding the whole scene in — and yet it all comes together into one perfectly caught moment. On canvas this one fills a room with energy. It belongs in a rumpus room, a holiday shack, or anywhere that needs a reminder of what a great North Queensland day feels like.
